- Use Common Sense.
Be safe and smart. Talk to your kids and all
other children before you start fundraising. Tell them the ground rules
upfront.
- Sell to Friends and Family.
Make a list of your relatives, friends and neighbors
whom you intend to contact. Friends & family are the easiest, safest
and most reliable sale. Using the telephone is an excellent way to start
your fundraiser.
- Adult Supervision is Mandatory.
A parent should always be present when kids are
involved. Ask the kids to make a list of whom they intend to contact.
A list will help insure that you and the program participants stick
to your plan. A parent and/or fundraising coordinator should always
approve the list of who's on the intended contact list.
- Conduct your sale in a public place.
Picking a location such as the local supermarket
is always a good idea. It's usually well located, in an easy to get
to location. They have parking and plenty of customers. Remember to
get permission first.
- Never enter the homes of strangers.
- Never let kids handle cash.
Checks are always preferred to cash. If cash
is necessary, only an adult should handle the money. Always issue a
receipt for cash.
- Conduct your sale during daylight hours.
Children should always wear bright colored clothing
or clothing that is marked with reflective materials.
- Take a Catalog to the Office.
Parents should take a catalog and order form
to the office. Remember team fundraising is not just for kids.
- Fundraise at your home games.
There's no place like home! Selling products
at your team's games is a great place to start. You have a captive audience,
in a public place.
